Lean & Hungry education initiatives support school reading lists and curricula. Our standard workshops are designed for 6th-12th grades. We can customize workshops for any age group, ages 6-106, or based on a particular theme or concept, such as social and class issues, peer pressure, and historical eras.

Teaching Artists
Nicole Boyd is a graduate from The College of William & Mary with a BA in Theater. She has performed roles such as Nerissa in ‘The Merchant of Venice’ (Virginia Shakespeare Festival) and Guiderius in 'Cymbeline' (Powerhouse Theater Apprenticeship Program). An untitled performance created in collaboration with Erin Ortman at Powerhouse is also serving as inspiration for an off-Broadway musical. She has also interned at the Folger Shakespeare Library in their Public Programs department. She is an Actors Equity Association Membership Candidate.
Kevin Collins has earned a Post-Graduate Diploma in Theatre & Performance from Trinity College Dublin, and a B.A. in Theatre & Dance from James Madison University. He is a DC-based arts teaching artist, actor, and arts administrator. Kevin is an affiliated teaching artist with Lean & Hungry Theater, Imagination Stage, Round House Theatre, Encore Stage, and Creative Kids. Kevin also has appeared on stage with a number of DC area theatres. His post-grad research explored the benefits of utilizing theatre as a medium for educating a general audience about complicated and normally inaccessible scientific topics.
Evan Crump has performed in over forty professional productions since 2007 for more than a dozen companies in the DC area. Additionally, he has taught acting, writing, and Shakespeare in the English and Theatre departments at Bowie State University for five years. Previous Teaching Artist positions include Howard Community College, the Maryland Shakespeare Festival, and the Chesapeake Arts Center. He is the Artistic Director of Unstrung Harpist Productions, and in that capacity has written and produced shows for the last four Fringe Festivals, one of which, Genesis, received the award for Best Drama in 2010.
Nick Depinto is a Washington DC based Teaching Artist. He has been teaching the Arts to Grades 6 - 12 for over fifteen years and at the Collegiate Level for 7 years. He has extensive experience teaching theatre workshops in over 30 states on subjects such as Shakespeare, Playwriting, Acting, Improvisation, Stage Combat & Auditioning. He was a Teaching Artist with Musical Theatre College Auditions for 5 years. In 2006, he was a featured Guest Artist/Educator Panelist at the Clemson University Shakespeare Festival. In addition to his education & training in the United States – including an MFA from Detroit's Classical Repertory Company, the Hilberry Theatre - Nick also trained in Moscow & London and enjoys bringing a multicultural and Classical approach to his teaching work. Since 2007, he has made Washington DC his home. Currently he is an Adjunct at Mcdaniel College where he teaches Acting classes for both Stage and Screen as well as taking students to the Kennedy Center's American College Theatre Festival, and he has served on the faculty of George Washington University where he taught Introduction to Acting. And now Nick is excited to work as a TA for Lean & Hungry Theatre, bringing young hearts and minds closer to the Classics!
Lisa Gabriella Pantano attended Carnegie Mellon University and graduated Class Salutatorian from the Eastman School of Music. Lisa has performed in operas, musicals and theatrical productions in the United States, Italy and Canada and at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall and the Vatican. Favorite roles: West Side Story (Maria), Le Nozze di Figaro (Cherubino), Measure for Measure (Mariana), Midsummer (Titania) and All's Well (Countess). Lisa earned her MFA from the Academy for Classical Acting and is a member of SAG-AFTRA. Lisa has taught acting, voice and piano to preschoolers through adults and also works at Encore and Imagination Stage.
Victoria Reinsel is an actor, teaching artist, and director who has worked with American Shakespeare Center, Orlando Shakespeare, Imagination Stage, Ford's, Constellation Theatre, Taffety Punk, Shakespeare Theatre, Maryland Shakespeare, Chesapeake Shakespeare, Encore Stage & Studio, Lola’s Laboratory, Creative Kids, Georgetown University, and Eastern Mennonite University. She co-founded Brave Spirits Theatre. Victoria holds a MFA and M.Litt in Shakespeare in Performance from Mary Baldwin College/American Shakespeare Center, and a BA in Theatre/Literature from Marlboro College.
Megan St. John has worked as a teaching artist in the DC metro area since 2008. She also completed a year as an education apprentice at Imagination Stage. She interned at Folger Shakespeare Library, where she was trained to teach Shakespeare in their Teaching Shakespeare Institute. Megan also completed a year as an education apprentice at Imagination Stage. She now works as the Access Administrator at Imagination Stage in addition to being a teaching artist for Lean and Hungry.
Lean & Hungry is constantly expanding our educational outlets, including workshops for youth groups and seniors. We work to bring life to the classics of the English Language through direct participation.
For communities where English is a second language, Lean & Hungry's outreach and involvement provide an important educational benefit to audiences of all ages.
